Roselle Park Board approves personnel, education and business packages; discusses safety communications and residency checks

The Roselle Park Board of Education on an evening meeting in late January approved bundled policy, personnel, education and business sections of its agenda, voted separately on two executive-session items related to HIP files, affirmed a residency appeal, and discussed how the district notifies parents during school safety incidents.

The board approved the policy, personnel and business sections by roll call votes after discussion. The education section passed after board members removed item 38 for separate consideration; the board later voted to approve 38A (242-5007) and not to approve 38B (242-5008). The board also approved a motion to affirm residency appeal matters discussed in executive session; the board said letters would be sent to the interested parties.

The meeting included a report from Christine Doherty, principal of Robert Gordon School, who described the school's literacy and early-reading work, noting use of DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills) and UFLI (University of Florida Literacy Institute) materials to assess and support students.
