Larkmore Elementary students lead pledge, display Veterans Day murals and describe art and music club projects

Students and teachers from Larkmore School presented student work and led the pledge at the Jan. 27 board meeting.
Miss Smith, identified in the meeting as the assistant principal at Larkmore School, introduced music and art club members and said the after-school clubs draw 20–25 students each. She noted the clubs produced two Veterans Day murals and asked students to come forward to share their projects.
Several fifth- and fourth-grade students described their experiences. Adeline Johnson said she joined both clubs to get better at drawing and to work with others on instruments. Lily Arnell explained an art project using overlapping primary colors to create secondary colors and described a project they called “dragon eyes,” which used different textures and colors. Levi Rokey said both clubs “have made me happy because I have got better at art and music.” Lauren Waters said she used to trace and that art club helped her learn to sketch instead.
Miss Smith and board members thanked the students, teachers (Miss Arecio and Miss Mason were named as club teachers) and parents for supporting the after-school activities. The presentation included a group photo opportunity and a brief display of the murals for board members to view.
This portion of the meeting was a recognition and student showcase; no board action was taken regarding the Larkmore presentation.
