Board appoints Christine Doss as Madera County Director of Behavioral Health Services

The Madera County Board of Supervisors on Jan. 28, 2025, adopted a resolution appointing Christine Doss as the county’s Director of Behavioral Health Services, effective Feb. 3, 2025. The resolution passed by roll call vote, 4‑0.
Shanika Dixon, Director of Human Resources, presented the appointment and referenced Welfare and Institutions Code section 5607 and Health and Safety Code section 11800, which allow the county director of behavioral health services to also serve as the local mental health director and/or alcohol and drug program administrator. Dixon said Doss brings more than 20 years of experience in behavioral health and health and human services, experience managing complex budgets and experience with state‑level behavioral‑health planning.
Christine Doss, who the presentation noted is a Madera County resident and a licensed clinical social worker with a master’s degree in social work, addressed the board and said she was honored to take the role and looked forward to collaborating with county departments, community‑based organizations and the public to increase access to care and treatment.
Supervisors and staff applauded the selection during the meeting. The motion to adopt the resolution was made and seconded; the roll call vote recorded Supervisors Rogers, Wamha, Poitras and Pro Tem McCauley as voting yes.
