A San Miguel County staff member demonstrated the county’s online zone district finder and how users can locate parcel-level zoning information on the county website. The presentation showed where to launch the map viewer, how to search for parcels, and which jurisdictions are currently mapped.
The presenter said, "When you first open the finder, you'll see an information panel with tips on how to use the application. It also has helpful links for land use codes and planning resources for various jurisdictions." The demonstration showed a map legend with zoning colors and roads, layer controls, parcel pop-ups with zoning authority and attached documents, and tools to create shareable images.
The demonstration noted that the application currently maps San Miguel County, the Town of Telluride and the Town of Norwood. The Town of Mountain Village and the Town of Ophir are not yet available in the finder, according to the presentation. Users can open the zone district finder from the county website's map viewer launch page and access it from the map viewer gallery.
The presenter demonstrated parcel searches using a parcel identification number and said users may also search by tax account number, name or address. Zoom controls (mouse wheel and plus/minus buttons) and an eye icon in the layer list let users turn layers on or off; some layers remain grayed out at broader scales and become available as users zoom in. Clicking a parcel or selecting a search result brings up a left-hand panel with zoning information. For some parcels that have additional documentation, the pop-up panel shows attachments such as resolutions and notes.
The demonstration covered the screenshot tool for producing shareable map images. The presenter advised caution when including the legend because it can be very large and may capture the entire screen; instead, users can include pop-up panels in the exported image. After drawing a box to set the map area, the tool generates an image that can be titled and downloaded. The presenter also referenced available keyboard shortcuts for interacting with the map and a "default map view" button to return to the initial extent.
No formal actions or votes were recorded in the demonstration; it was presented as an informational overview of the online tool.
