She said the 2020 program year amendment will fund installation of Americans with Disabilities Act‑compliant sidewalks in Macomb Township and that another 2020 amendment would provide CDBG money for two road construction projects in the city of Eastpointe. A separate amendment from the 2022 annual action plan would fund projects in Shelby Township and the Kern Center in Mount Clemens. The committee also approved a proposed change to HOME‑ARP funding to shift emphasis toward supportive services.
Vicki described a related grant agreement — listed on the agenda as item H — as a recurring defense grant awarded in partnership with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. She told the committee the MEDC award is the largest the county has received for this purpose and that the grant amount is $362,081.27. The funds were described as intended to support marketing and promotion of aerospace and defense in Macomb County.
Commissioner Brown praised the county staff who handled the CDBG work and said he had received positive feedback on their professionalism during recent site work. The committee approved the consolidated motion covering items D, E, F, G and H by an 11‑0 vote. Committee members noted the amendments must follow federal CDBG and HOME‑ARP requirements and that the items would proceed to the full Board of Commissioners as the next step.
