The Cumberland County Board of Commissioners voted to remove item 6a — Civic Center Commission appointments — from its current agenda and to take up the appointments at the Jan. 20 meeting.
The change followed a request to separate motions and to provide newly seated commissioners time to review appointment materials. Vice Chairwoman Jones and multiple commissioners said the postponement was intended to allow Commissioner Tyson and Commissioner Patel an opportunity to review the nomination information before votes are taken.
Commissioner Adams asked the county attorney to confirm whether moving the appointments to a later meeting would require the same four board members to be present; the county attorney and county staff addressed procedural questions and the board then voted to postpone the appointments to Jan. 20.
No nomination votes were taken at the meeting; the appointment matter will return to a future agenda for formal action.
