PDSC trustees approve donated-leave bank policy and merit award for APD managing attorney

The Public Defender Service Corporation board of trustees approved Resolution 125 establishing a donated-leave bank and approved a merit award for the Alternate Public Defender managing attorney during its Jan. 28 meeting.

Chief Justice Robert J. Torres, chairman of the board, announced passage of the donated-leave resolution and said the document reflects prior requested edits naming the executive director and managing attorneys as approval authorities. "I will sign this resolution then, resolution 125, establishing the donated leave bank policy for the Public Defender Service Corporation, the Alternate Public Defender and the Civil Law Center," Torres said.

The board also approved a separate performance-evaluation resolution for APD Managing Attorney Annie Gail. The board recorded the proposed merit award as "3.50 per base pay," as presented during the meeting; the board approved the resolution by voice vote. "There being no objection that resolution passes," Torres said after the aye votes.

Minutes from the Dec. 31, 2024, meeting were approved earlier in the session; a motion and second were made and the board voted in the affirmative. The trustees confirmed a quorum was present at the Jan. 28 meeting: three of five trustees attended, and notice was published within the required windows.

The meeting adjourned with the board setting its next regular meeting for Feb. 25.
