Robert Carpenter, CEO of Brothers in Electrical and Electro Mastery, described a trade camp and apprenticeship‑style programs for youth and adults, including formerly incarcerated individuals, aimed at reducing unemployment and recidivism. He requested city partnerships and resources and left program materials with council offices.
Council members thanked the presenters and said staff would help arrange meetings with workforce and apprenticeship stakeholders. Council member Cayman said the city is reviewing apprenticeship programs and will host a presentation with the AFL‑CIO Gulf Coast on union‑based apprenticeship opportunities; other council members offered to coordinate introductions and follow‑up meetings with their offices.
