Oro Valley launches resident working groups to draft 10-year OV's Path Forward plan

Principal Planner Ms. Sims told the Town Council on Jan. 20 that the town will begin Phase 2 of OV’s Path Forward, a resident-led effort to translate prior community input into a draft 10-year plan.
Ms. Sims said resident working groups will begin meeting next week and that the process is intended to turn the public's previously collected priorities into “goals, policies and actions that will be implemented over a 10-year time frame.” She said four resident working groups were formed, with group sizes ranging from about 25–30 participants up to roughly 65, and that meetings will generally be online for accessibility.
The web-based plan framework is available at ovpathforward.com, Sims said, and staff will use a modular approach: groups will focus on different topics in monthly modules (for example, transportation, town finances and safety in February). Sims said the work of each group will produce a list of draft goals, policies and actions; staff expects a 30% draft by the end of May, will provide council a midpoint update in April, then prepare a complete draft over the summer.
Sims noted a 60-day public review is required by state law before the plan advances to the Planning and Zoning Commission and Town Council later in the year. She also said the web-based format will allow the public to follow implementation progress after voter ratification and that kickoff and working-group RSVP information is available online.
Council members asked about RSVPs and attendance caps; Sims said the town encourages RSVPs for planning but will not cap participation and will break very large groups into smaller online teams to ensure everyone can participate.
