The Wauwatosa Government Affairs Committee on Jan. 21 approved a special event permit and temporary extension of licensed premises for Raised Growler Gallery's "Wakfinter" beer festival, scheduled for Feb. 23, 2025, from noon to 5 p.m. in the Raised parking lot.
City staff said the event has been held for several years, that departmental reviews found no issues, and recommended approval. The committee voted unanimously to approve the special event permit and the temporary extension of licensed premises.
The applicant, listed as Sara Alayev of Raised Growler Gallery, told the committee the event is the 7th annual beer fest. Alayev said the organizer uses social media, an email blast she described as reaching "tens of thousands," and letters to residents on 89th Street to notify the neighborhood. As Alayev put it during the meeting, "we also typically, send out letters to the residents on 89th Street to notify them of the, the event."
Alder Phillips moved approval; a colleague seconded, and the committee approved the permit without recorded opposition.
The committee record shows the event was passed on for the required departmental reviews and that staff had no objections. No special conditions were added during the committee discussion.
