Planning staff described the property as a 1,056-square-foot, one-story house with main-floor and basement space proposed for the daycare. The petitioner requested a Type A license to care for up to 12 children ages 6 weeks to 12 years, operating Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. with no overnight stays. If approved, the petitioner intended to hire two full-time assistants. The rear yard provides an enclosed outdoor play area; on-street parking is available, and the traffic engineer reported no drop-off or pickup concerns.
During the meeting, a council member apologized for misspeaking earlier in the session and noted that White’s organization is a "gold star" provider. Councilman Garrett commended White’s 30 years of experience and offered his support.
The committee’s favorable report was adopted after suspension of the rules and the ordinance passed 12-0.
