Baseball league asks Queen Creek for access to frontier concession stand, scheduling priority

Nolan Rout, a board member of Southeast Valley Pony Baseball, asked the Town Council during public comment on Jan. 14 to get a timeline for staff follow‑up about field reservation policies, partnership status and use of the concession stand at the new Frontier Family Park.
Rout told council that Southeast Valley Pony Baseball has grown about 20% year over year while Queen Creek Little League — the town’s current partner for field priority and discounted rates — reported a roughly 50% drop in registration for the upcoming spring. Rout said his league’s concession stand operations generated more than $44,000 in fall sales at Mansell Carter and that the concession revenue funds scholarships and other community support. He asked the town to allow his league to inspect the Frontier concession facility and discuss what appliances and staffing would be required to open it.
Mayor Wheatley responded from the dais that staff would be directed to contact Rout with an update and provide council with the follow‑up. No formal action was taken; staff committed to outreach and to updating the council.
Rout’s request focused on program access and operating details rather than on town code or funding changes; council members noted the limitation that they cannot respond substantively during public comment but directed staff to engage with the league after the meeting.
