Council rezones 100 Hudson Barksdale Boulevard parcel to DT5; owner commits to affordability

The Spartanburg City Council on Jan. 13 approved an ordinance to amend the city zoning map and comprehensive-plan land-use designation for a property at 100 Hudson Barksdale Boulevard (TMSID 7-12-15-009.00), changing the parcel from R6 to DT5.
Bridal Frazier, the city's planning director, told council this was the second reading of the rezoning request and that staff and the planning commission found DT5 suitable for the location and consistent with the future land-use map. Frazier said the site is bounded by South Liberty Street, Henry Street, Lee Street and Hudson Barksdale and is "just shy of 1 and a half acres." She added R6 allows 10 units per acre.
