Council passes personnel ordinance, advances school roof loan orders and approves routine appointments

The New Bedford City Council on Jan. 8 approved an ordinance amending city personnel rules to add the title “supervisor of local building inspectors” at pay grade M6, advanced a series of loan orders to a second reading for schematic design and feasibility studies for multiple school roof projects, and confirmed several appointments and licenses in largely unanimous votes.

The ordinance amending Chapter 19, Section 19-7C of the personnel code to insert the supervisor title passed by roll call, 9-1. The council moved a set of loan orders, each appropriating $150,000 for schematic design and feasibility work on roof replacement projects at a group of elementary and secondary schools, to a second reading. The council also approved appointments to the Library Board of Trustees and a handful of private livery licenses and other routine items.
