Forest Service district ranger reports office relocation and temporary West Point cabin closure for reconstruction

The acting district ranger reported to the assembly on Jan. 6 that the Forest Service district office has moved to the 3 Mile site and that downtown construction will begin at the end of the month. She said the West Point cabin has been taken off the reservation system for the winter and is slated for reconstruction in summer; the cabin will reopen in the spring and then be closed again for contracting work once dates are set.
When asked whether the cabin might remain closed for the entire summer, the district ranger said she hopes not but that contract dates are not finalized. She offered the public the district office phone number for questions and said the reservation system will reflect cabin status. No assembly action was taken; the assembly received the report and asked no further questions.
