The Passaic City Council on Jan. 7 recorded several unanimous roll-call approvals during its agenda:
- Ordinance 2473-24: "An ordinance amended the designation of restricted parking for disabled persons by New Jersey license plate number" (second and final reading). The council opened and closed public comment and adopted the ordinance by roll call.
- Ordinance 2474-24: "An ordinance amending Chapter 231 (rent control) to Chapter 231 rent stabilization" (second and final reading). The council adopted the ordinance unanimously; the administration said an implementing amendment will be presented at the next meeting for first reading.
- Appointments to the rent-leveling (rent-control/stabilization) board: The council approved nominees submitted during the meeting packet. The council accepted Mary Anne Capersi as an expert member, Jorge Palacios as a tenant representative, and Luis Colon as a homeowner/landlord representative; Itamar Roman was approved as an alternate tenant. Roll-call votes on those appointments were recorded as yes by all voting members present.
- Consent and resolutions: The council approved multiple consent items and resolution blocks listed on the agenda by roll-call votes (items 3'12; 13'21; 23'39; 41'44; and others as read aloud). The clerk conducted roll-call votes for the grouped items; the meeting transcript records those items as adopted.
The meeting transcript records each roll-call vote with the same set of council members voting in the affirmative: Councilman Monk, Councilman Love, Councilwoman Mello, Councilman Schwartz, Councilman Garcia, Councilman Colombo Munoz, and Council President Schaer. In all recorded roll calls for the items listed above, the votes were unanimous in favor.
Where the meeting packet or transcript did not read full ordinance language or resolution text aloud, the clerk and administration referred attendees to the materials posted on the city website. The council did not record nay or abstain votes on these items in the meeting transcript.
