The Jenks City Council recorded unanimous votes on several agenda items Tuesday: adoption of the ordinance implementing PUD 151 (Ordinance 1657) and its emergency clause; a major amendment to the comprehensive plan land-use map (PA24-39) changing a parcel near 91st Street west of the Arkansas River from multifamily to regional commercial; and Ordinance 1658, which updates base district dimensional standards in the city’s Unified Development Ordinance (UDO), along with its emergency clause.
PA24-39: Planning staff said the parcel north of 91st Street had an expired PUD and the existing map designation of multifamily did not reflect the previous mixed-use PUD that included commercial uses. The council approved the map amendment by roll-call vote. No further conditions were recorded in the meeting minutes.
Ordinance 1658: Planning staff explained the UDO, adopted in 2022, needed adjustments to better align the zoning chart with what had repeatedly been approved through PUDs and plats. The ordinance increases certain minimum lot widths (for example adjusting RS-2 to a 60-foot option in some contexts) and slightly adjusts lot-area standards. Councilors said the changes reflect common build patterns and will not eliminate PUD flexibility.
Votes: For each contested item the roll-call vote recorded Brown — yes; Short — yes; Ojei — yes; Abel — yes; Murray — yes; Box — yes. The council approved the emergency clauses for both Ordinance 1657 and Ordinance 1658 in separate motions.
Motions and recorded outcomes from the meeting (as stated on the record): • Ordinance 1657 (PUD 151 implementing ordinance) — motion and second to adopt; roll-call vote unanimous; outcome: approved. • Emergency clause for Ordinance 1657 — motion and second to adopt; roll-call vote unanimous; outcome: approved. • PA24-39 (comprehensive plan map amendment, multifamily → regional commercial at 91st Street west of the Arkansas River) — motion and second to approve as presented; roll-call vote unanimous; outcome: approved. • Ordinance 1658 (UDO updates to base district standards, lot widths/lot area) — motion and second to approve; roll-call vote unanimous; outcome: approved. • Emergency clause for Ordinance 1658 — motion and second to approve; roll-call vote unanimous; outcome: approved.
Recordings and staff documents noted the items will require follow-up as appropriate: UDO changes are immediate, while PA24-39 and ordinances affecting zoning will trigger platting, engineering review or subsequent administrative steps where applicable.
