Boone council approves DC trip, city engineer hiring, Marion Street acceptance and Catalyst grant support

Boone City Council approved several items on the agenda during a single roll‑call action, including approval to send three councilmembers and two staff to Washington, D.C.; final acceptance and a contract adjustment for the Marion Street South project; a resolution to hire a city engineer; and a letter of support for a local Catalyst grant application.

The council authorized travel for Councilman Mormon, Councilman Bird and Councilman Angstrom plus two staff members to Washington, D.C., for an advocacy trip, approving the travel by roll call. The motion to send the delegation passed.

On public works, engineering staff asked the council to approve a change order that reduced the Marion Street project by $87,537.55 after quantity adjustments and to accept the project as complete with outstanding punch‑list items to be finished. The council voted to accept the project and allow the city to release retainage within 30 days after punch‑list completion.

Council also approved Resolution 3319, which the city administrator presented as the employment agreement and salary/benefits package to fill the city engineer position with Perry. The council voted to hire Perry to the appointed position.

The council's economic development committee recommended writing a letter of support for Radicato's Catalyst grant application. The council approved the letter of support and the application re‑submission.

The meeting also approved the consent agenda items without separate discussion and set a budget meeting for Jan. 14 to review the city budget.
