Commissioners approve joint creation of San Pedro Creek development authority and local government corporation

In executive session and returned to open court Jan. 7 to approve the creation of a joint entity — the Bexar County and City of San Antonio San Pedro Creek Development Authority — and an affiliated local government corporation to participate in development, financing, ownership and leasing of a planned multipurpose civic facility.

The project description discussed in executive session includes a multipurpose recreational civic facility to be used in part for minor‑league baseball, collegiate and high‑school sporting events, conventions and other community events. After the executive session discussion the court took a motion, which passed by voice vote, to approve the joint creation and adopt a resolution authorizing and approving formation of the authority and local government corporation.

County officials said the action implements direction previously discussed at court and represents an administrative step toward project implementation; final project-level agreements, financing and arrangements were described as subject to later court review and approval. The judge and county legal counsel stayed in for the executive session deliberations and the court noted no further public action beyond the resolution was taken at that time.
