The Benbrook City Council on Jan. 2 approved an interlocal agreement with Tarrant County for the fiscal year 2024-25 asphalt overlay program and awarded multiple contracts covering milling, reclaim, overlay and striping as part of the city’s annual street maintenance program.
The interlocal agreement with Tarrant County covers the city’s overlay work for fiscal year 2024-25 and applies to about 2.43 miles of roadway, staff said. Bennett Howell, a staff member, described the program as the city’s annual overlay effort and noted the county provides labor while the city pays for asphalt.
Staff said the program this year will work primarily in the northeast corner of the city, with streets listed on the project map including sections from Chapin and Williams to Westerly and Llano. Councilmembers were told the program, taken together, will cover roughly 8.4 miles of overlay on this contract and nearly 11 miles of work across all related contracts for the year.
