CLSD seeks pre-purchase approvals for long‑lead generators, opens chiller bids and recommends gym floor overpour

Buildings and grounds staff for the Cornwall‑Lebanon School District told the school board at its Feb. 20 public work session that the district will ask for approval next week to pre‑purchase two generators and expects a bid opening this week for a chiller replacement at Coral Elementary.
Jeffrey Snyder, presenting the buildings and grounds section, said the district held two pre‑bid conferences and will host walkthroughs for stadium and high‑school bidders. He asked the board to authorize pre‑purchases of a generator for Cedar Crest High School from Premium Power Services and a stadium generator from Winter Engine, citing long lead times for delivery.
Snyder said the lead time estimates are about 30 weeks for the high‑school generator and about 14 weeks for the stadium unit. He told the board it may also add panel work for both sites and that final purchasing lines will appear on the agenda for board action next week.
On Coral Elementary, Snyder said the district reissued the chiller solicitation after rejecting earlier bids; new bids are scheduled to be received Feb. 13 with a public opening at 1:00 p.m. at the administrative building. Moore Engineering assisted with specifications and will review submissions and recommend award options.
Snyder also recommended an overpour to repair cracking in the Union Canal Elementary gym floor rather than replacing the entire floor, which he said could cost about four times as much. He presented a vendor estimate of $46,465 for the overpour and asked the board to ratify the purchase from the capital reserve fund so the work can be scheduled this summer.
Board members asked clarifying questions about the gym floor timing and the generator lead times. "The lead times for the generators are 30 weeks for the high school, and for the stadium is 14 weeks," Snyder said.
No formal purchases or awards were approved at the work session; the administration said action items will be presented on the board agenda for formal approval at the next meeting.
The items are part of the district’s capital reserve‑funded campus projects and were presented as requests for future board action rather than final decisions.
