Cafeteria staff outline holiday meal plans, inventory and staffing gaps

Dan, a food service staff member who presented the cafeteria report to the committee, said food service catered 12 events in November, including a United Way luncheon, fall sports banquet and a community-resource fall fair at William Penn.
“Commodity usage for the month and support of student meals totaled $29,214 used, leaving us with an inventory of $23,526,” Dan said.
Dan outlined the district’s holiday meal planned for Dec. 19. He said the student menu will include a fried chicken leg, baked ham, mac and cheese, green bean casserole, carrot sticks, berry applesauce and an ice cream cup; adult meal pricing will match the Thanksgiving adult price of $4.75.
Dan also previewed a limited-time-offer menu item for January (street-corn chowder served with a cheesy breadstick, scheduled Jan. 21–24) and noted small building projects including quotes for ramps and new walk-in coolers at Davis and media-wall relocation at William Penn High School.
He told the committee the food services team is filling three vacant positions and is interviewing candidates to cover those roles.
No committee action was taken; the report was informational and staff said recruitment for open positions and several small capital quotes remain in progress.
