The Westland City Council approved the consent calendar as amended, completing routine business items without recorded dissent.
Items announced as approved included minutes from the Dec. 16, 2024 regular meeting; authorization of a contract with Don Nicholson Enterprises LLC, doing business as Marketplace News, to serve as the city’s official newspaper for an amount budgeted at $18,000 (term through Dec. 31, 2025); and renewal of the CodeRED alerting-service subscription for one year in an amount not to exceed $8,474.94.
Council also noted the introduction of Ordinance 248a116 to amend the Westland Zoning Ordinance to reclassify property at 2207 Knowlton from I-1 (light industrial) to CB-1 (low-intensity commercial), and the council adopted a prepared land resolution for a division at 5775 North Dowling (Planning Department file #2269), both items previously approved by council on Nov. 18, 2024. The consent calendar concluded with approval of the administration’s recommendation of counsel in the resolution of Hovis v. Westland.
Council took a separate, unanimous roll-call vote earlier in the meeting to move a consent item (item F) to new business.
The consent calendar motions passed by voice vote with no dissent recorded.
