Board approves summer readministration plan; state renorming delays some science scores

The Chatham County Board of Education approved the district’s summer readministration plan for end-of-grade and end-of-course assessments.
Miss Reapclossti (district assessment lead, as identified in the meeting) told the board the district must follow state law requiring that any readministration of end-of-grade or end-of-course assessments occur after the last day of school. She said the plan schedules workdays beginning June 9 and will provide transportation and meals for June 9–11, with an open window for readministration through June 18 for families who cannot attend the early week dates.
Reapclossti warned the board that the state is renorming science end-of-grade assessments in fifth and eighth grades and the biology end-of-course exam; state scoring and norms will take the summer to complete, and those science scores may not be returned until August. She said the delayed scores will still be included in accountability but will not be available in time for some second-opportunity uses.
A board member moved the motion to approve the summer readministration plan and authorize administration to make adjustments if state requirements change; the motion passed by voice vote.
