Cliffside Park Board gets clean administrative review of food service; approves corrective action plan for 2023–24 audit

At its Dec. 18 meeting, the Cliffside Park Board of Education received a finance update from Business Administrator Lou Alfano reporting a favorable administrative review of the district’s food service operations and the presentation of four audit-related resolutions covering the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024.

Alfano said the review “went very well,” praising Pomptonian staff and district staff for their work on free and reduced-price lunch applications and operations. Alfano said auditor Steve Wilcox presented the audit overview and that the audit contained no material findings; it noted only minor compliance findings. The corrective action plan and synopsis are being uploaded to the New Jersey Department of Education homeroom system for validation and approval.

Alfano told the board the district’s finances show revenues versus expenses trending so that a surplus is likely at the close of the fiscal year. Board member Mister Capaldi commended the business office for producing a well-done audit for a $16-million-plus budget.
