Village of Wellington planning staff said the village will submit a grant application seeking $450,000 to install exercise equipment along a trail at Village Park.
Tim Stillings, planning department staff, told the Planning Board that the RTP Grama Program application is “just a grant application that we're gonna be submitting for funding for exercise equipment at Village Park, through an exercise trail.” He said the application requires the item be placed on a board agenda so the village can indicate the project has been reviewed; no formal board vote was required.
The staff presentation said Wellington has been “fairly successful with these grant applications in the past,” and that the board’s role at this stage is to acknowledge the submittal rather than approve project design or funding commitments. No public comments were offered and the board did not take a vote on the item.
If awarded, the funds would be designated for exercise equipment and trail work at Village Park; additional design, permitting, and contract decisions would occur later if the grant is successful.
