Board approves preliminary March 1 staffing and site-based allocations and routine consent items

The Bath County Board of Education on Feb. 17 approved several routine and budget-related items, including preliminary March 1 staffing allocations, site-based decision-making (SBDM) allocations, and the consent agenda covering minutes, financial statements, claims, travel, grants and other routine matters.
On a motion by Carla, seconded by Eric, the board approved consent items labeled a through k on the agenda; the motion carried by voice vote. Item 6(j) authorizes the district to request sealed bids for districtwide copiers and printing, and item 6(k) approves a Memorandum of Agreement with Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG).
Miss Collins presented the preliminary staffing allocations, noting they are preliminary and a final allocation will return in April before the May 1 submission deadline. Preliminary staffing showed only one school with a projected additional need this year while three of the four schools were projected to remain at current staffing levels. Miss Collins said SPA (school program allocation) preliminary amounts decrease in part because average daily attendance as of Sept. 30 decreased slightly; final allocations will be approved later by each SBDM council.
The board approved the tentative March 1 staffing allocations (motion by Carla, second by Kim) and the tentative site-based decision-making allocations (motion by Eric, second by Kim). Members approved the motions by voice vote.
Separately, the board approved personnel actions and fundraisers for district programs after board discussion and a specific motion to approve item 5(a) and 5(b).
