A district speaker summarized the audit process and the district—ffort to secure campuses, saying the audits evaluate whether a campus is accessible to an unauthorized individual and provide "an opportunity to create a safer learning environment for all our students and staff." The speaker said the audit was part of TEA irectives following recent statewide tragedies and that the district is working with its safety and security committee to train staff and secure doors.
District leadership said it would not release specific audit details publicly because doing so "could lead to compromising important campus security information." The speaker added that "specific details of the intruder detection audit will be discussed in executive session this evening and with the safety and security committee." Trustees did not vote on any changes to campus operations in open session.
The board invoked provisions of the Texas Open Meetings Act and moved the item into executive session, where safety details and personnel items were scheduled for closed discussion.
