The City of Post Falls unveiled a redesigned municipal website during the Dec. 3 council meeting. Public Information Officer Stephanie Herman demonstrated the site's homepage, department header pages and a new notification subscription system.
Herman said the site has a ‘mega menu’ to present government, departments and community information with fewer clicks, department header pages for entities such as parks and police, a consolidated staff directory, and a searchable document center for forms and PDFs. The calendar has separate meeting and events tabs, and a rotating photo banner highlights local images.
One new feature is mass-notification software that allows residents to sign up for topic-based alerts by email or text (e.g., public hearings, city events, emergency notices). Staff plan to open signups immediately and begin active use of the notification system in January to allow residents time to subscribe. The site also includes a “share photographs” form for citizens to grant permission for the city to use submitted images.
Herman said the police and parks pages remain visually distinct but now live within the same site framework, which improves search across departments. Council members praised the improved calendar, search function and ease of navigation.
