District staff said the event brought together seniors from all six district high schools and offered on-site admissions, scholarship opportunities and FAFSA assistance. "So today, we have well over 350 scholars and over 15 colleges and universities that are on-site today to offer admissions, scholarships on-site," the speaker said.
The program included breakout sessions for conversations about ACT scores and scholarship availability and a "get to college" area where parents could work on FAFSA applications with staff. The speaker said the district is using the event as part of a broader strategy to increase college enrollment rates among graduates.
No decisions about district policy or budget changes were included in the announcement; the remarks were presented as part of district outreach and student support activities.
