Senate clears path for statewide charter-authorizing board to again approve new schools

The Wyoming Senate’s Committee of the Whole voted to advance House Bill 94, which removes a statutory pause on new charter-school authorizations and allows the statewide charter-authorizing board to resume approving new charter schools beginning July 1, 2025.
Senator Brennan told colleagues the change removes the 2029 date that had prevented the board from authorizing schools sooner. “Currently in our statutes, we have a charter school authorization board. However, they can't authorize any more charter schools until 2029,” Brennan said.
