She described planned activities including snorkeling, zip-lining, white-water rafting and hiking in cloud rainforest areas; the itinerary includes visits to the Guanacaste and Arenal regions and arrival through Liberia airport. Bressler said about 28 student travelers will go with three additional adults (one teacher and two parent chaperones) and that adults who serve as chaperones will need required district/state clearances.
Bressler said the trip is open to any student who wishes to participate and that past tours focus on language practice and cultural exposure. She noted EF has supported student groups through past travel interruptions and provides contingency arrangements if flights or electricity outages disrupt plans.
Board members and administrators acknowledged that per district policy, board approval is required for trips of this nature; Bressler said she will present the trip for action on a future agenda.
