KFA board approves annual report for distribution to governor and legislative leaders

At a virtual KFA board meeting (date not specified), the board voted to approve the organization's annual report for distribution to the governor's office, legislative leaders and publication online.

Board members praised the length and detail of the report and asked staff to add an executive summary and double-check formatting before publication. Krista (Sunflower staff) said the team began with statutory reporting requirements, pulled data from grantee applications and final grantee reports, and routed the draft to the Attorney General's office for review before presenting it to the board.

Krista told the board that the only remaining item for the report was an updated table of 2024 distributions for the MFAP (appendix 1). If the table could be completed before publication, staff would insert it; if not, they would remove the appendix and re-number remaining appendices. She also said the team would ensure no instances of the word "draft" remain in the published document.

Board member Sandra Dixon suggested adding a one-page executive summary to encourage readership. Board member Monica moved to approve the report for distribution; Sandra seconded. The board approved the motion by voice vote.

Staff also noted grant updates during the meeting: final payments and closures on several RFP awards, and roughly $433,000 remaining in outstanding payments across RFPs that remain open. Staff said some grantees had requested extensions because they could not spend awarded dollars within original timelines.

The board scheduled the next meeting for March 14 and expected to receive the full needs-assessment presentation at its April meeting.
