Members of the Town of Hubbardston senior center board reported at their meeting that a local cultural grant application for an art program had received a request for clarifying information that the board had not answered. The board said it has reached out to a contact at the grant program to ask whether the application can still be considered.
Board members described the art program as currently meeting once a month at $100 per session (noted in the boards accounts as a $100 monthly expense). They said the centers GFA (grant/fund/account) balance for the art program is $667.90 and that the group wants to use local funds to support an art show planned for early spring.
During the meeting a board member said the grant office had requested two clarifications and asked for answers by the 20th of the month (the board member said a notice was missed in November). The questions included the proposed session time (the grantor asked whether classes would be held during business hours) and a requested breakdown of $300 in proposed expenses. The board said Claudia Provenzo had emailed a member of the grant panel to ask whether the center could still submit the required clarifications after the deadline.
Board members emphasized they had worked on the application and did not want the missed notice to terminate consideration. No new funding was approved at the meeting; members said they will follow up with the grantor and report back at a future meeting.
Separately, the board reviewed internal budget items: the supplies account showed $848.80, the services account $145.46 and a gift account balance of $6,544.81 that contained proceeds from a recent Christmas fair. The board also discussed the formula grant deposit they expected (discussed as roughly $9,396.61) and planned to reconcile paperwork with Mary, who handles deposits.
