After discussion a commissioner moved to use the motion method and nominate the candidate whose name had been previously circulated; another commissioner seconded. The motion passed 2–1. The nominated candidate, Ashley Boyette, appeared and was sworn in during the meeting. She repeated the oath and assumed the commissioner role; the board confirmed she will serve in the position until required by election law (the clerk will provide statutory guidance on election filing deadlines as needed). Boyette said she intends to serve the town and thanked the board for the appointment.
No ordinance or charter change accompanied the appointment; the board agreed Boyette would be sworn and seated at the January meeting if a different schedule were later required.
