Commissioners elect new chair, vice chair and secretary in reorganization vote

At the Jan. 14 meeting the Saline County Board of Commissioners held its reorganization and adopted a slate of officers for the commission year. Commissioners voted to make Commissioner Sparks the board chair, Commissioner Shadwick the vice chair and Commissioner Grievous the secretary.
A motion was made to nominate the entire slate and to cease further nominations; the motion was seconded and commissioners voted "aye." The chair declared the motion carried.
The reorganization took place near the end of the meeting and was followed by a motion to adjourn. The new officer assignments will govern meeting leadership and administrative duties until the next reorganization or as the board directs.
