McCall council confirms Kathy Eicher as interim city treasurer

The McCall City Council on Jan. 2 confirmed the city manager’s appointment of Deputy Treasurer Kathy Eicher as interim city treasurer effective Dec. 21, 2024.
Council members approved the appointment by roll call during a special work session after staff recommended the interim assignment so the city can continue day-to-day financial operations following the recent retirement of longtime treasurer Linda Stokes. The council’s action was unanimous.
City staff told the council the interim appointment will continue until a permanent replacement is hired and that the recruitment process has attracted a number of qualified applicants. Mayor Giles, addressing Eicher by phone during the meeting, said, “Spend time with your family tonight. And congratulations. We’ll have lots of questions for you next week.”
The council made the appointment by motion and roll call; staff said the interim assignment is intended to preserve continuity while the city completes recruitment for a permanent treasurer. No additional conditions or ordinances were adopted at the meeting.
Staff will return to a future meeting with details on the recruitment timeline and any recommended next steps for filling the permanent treasurer position.
