The Minnesota Senate on Feb. 17 approved a motion to withdraw Senate File 1268 from the Committee on State and Local Government and refer it to the Committee on Housing and Homelessness Prevention.
Senator Fatai moved the referral on the Senate floor, saying, “I move that SF, 12 68 be withdrawn from the committee on state and local government, and we refer to the committee on housing and homelessness prevention.” Senator Murphy, presiding, asked whether chairs had been consulted; an affirmative reply followed and Murphy announced the motion prevailed.
The referral sends SF1268 to the Housing and Homelessness Prevention Committee for further consideration; the motion was approved by voice vote and no roll-call tally was recorded on the floor at the time.
No details of the bill’s provisions or schedule for committee action were provided on the floor during the motion. The referral changes which committee will consider the bill but does not itself enact policy.
