Board approves HBCU tour seats after guest speaker outlines free conference and student supports

Following the presentation, trustees voted to approve the district’s participation in the HBCU tour and to fund a small number of seats for students. Trustees said they want to explore deeper collaboration with Harvell’s program so more Flint students can access HBCU recruitment resources and scholarships.
The board approved the item by roll call, saying the tour offered direct exposure to colleges and universities and could be a catalyst to expand district offerings in future years.
