"It's an honor to be over here," Arcela said, urging others to join the program. She described lengthy commutes she once took from Miami Beach — "I used to take 2 buses, 4 buses a day from Miami Beach to Corregales" — and said the program helped her stay busy and engaged while riding.
A program representative said Arcela "earned the most Velos points" in the fourth quarter and will receive 5,000 points credited to her Velosi account as a reward. The staff member thanked "vice chair, committee members and commissioners" for their partnership with the CITT program and acknowledged a partnership with the county Department of Transportation and Public Works.
Staff noted the program has grown to more than 200 ambassadors in two years and invited interested residents to apply online at MiamiDade.gov/citt or contact program coordinator Cheryl Metzel directly at (786) 334-8128. A plaque presentation and a group photograph followed the remarks.
