Francis noted the LPS Education Foundation awarded $50,000 in classroom grants to staff for projects beyond standard district funding. He also promoted upcoming events referenced in the packet: Dollars for Scholars on Jan. 30, the Kappa arts camp on Jan. 11 (third through eighth graders; $25 fee), and the district chili cook-off (date shown on flyers conflicted; a board member corrected the event date to Jan. 18). Francis said Superintendent Andrea Oakquist was unable to attend and that he was presenting the update on her behalf; he credited communications staffer Stacy Jenkins for assembling the event photos.
