The Charlton Board of Selectmen reviewed an Open Meeting Law complaint filed Nov. 27, 2024, by a representative of Firefighters Local 4023 and voted on Dec. 10, 2024, to refer the matter to the town administrator and the town’s legal counsel for a formal response.

Town staff noted the board must meet to review the complaint within 14 business days of filing. A selectman made a motion to refer the complaint to the town administrator and legal counsel; the motion carried unanimously. Board members were cautioned to refrain from substantive public comment on the pending matter while counsel prepares a response.

The referral directs the town administrator and legal counsel to prepare the official reply to the complaint; the board will receive counsel’s response and next-step recommendations when available.
