Marion County approves four appointments to Public Safety Coordinating Council, including two victim-service leaders

The Marion County Board of Commissioners on Wednesday approved four appointments to the Marion County Public Safety Coordinating Council, naming Allison Kelly, Ashley Carson, Fire Chief Dave Gerboth and Dr. Carlos Texador Maldonado to staggered terms.
Allison Kelly, identified in the meeting as CEO of Liberty House, was appointed to fill the remainder of a term ending Sept. 15, 2025, as the representative of community-based nonprofit victim services. Ashley Carson, executive director of the Center for Hope and Safety, was appointed as a citizen member along with David Gerboth, Salem Fire Department chief; Dr. Carlos Texador Maldonado, a behavioral-health professional affiliated with Bridal Ray Community Health, was also appointed. The three citizen-member terms were reported as ending Feb. 28, 2028.
Commissioners noted the nonprofit seat is statutorily required to be a victim-assistance organization and confirmed both Liberty House and the Center for Hope and Safety qualify for that role. "The Marion County public safety coordinating council is just an amazing group of dynamic people," Kelly said; she described Liberty House as the county's pediatric advocacy and therapy organization serving roughly 1,000 children a year.
Commissioner Christian Willis moved to approve the orders; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote. The board thanked the appointees for their willingness to serve.
