Board reviews bus procurement plan, landscaping contract addendum and Chromebook lease

John Eckert (business operations) told the board the administration is working with the Educational Purchasing Cooperative (EPC) consortium to procure school buses; pricing and delivery timing have not been finalized. Eckert said the transportation team and district staff are coordinating route-planning and tracking software pilot work that will help drivers with turn-by-turn directions and route adjustments. He described a recent incident in which a driver unfamiliar with a location got turned around and said the new routing tools should reduce that risk.
Eckert also presented an addendum to the district—s landscaping contract. The vendor had proposed annual increases of 3.5% per year; the district negotiated a two-year agreement that freezes the second-year increase so there is only one increase over the two-year term. Trustees asked about turf/fields and scheduling; Eckert said rain can disrupt schedules but the district will work with the contractor to target field maintenance windows.
On technology, Steve Meese presented a Chromebook lease agreement that follows the district—s existing asset-rotation plan: new Chromebooks are provided to every 5th- and 9th-grade student and devices are rotated into other grades. Meese said the lease will fund the refresh of devices for those grade levels for the year.
