Student representatives reported on a series of club and volunteer activities during the meeting, including fundraising and community service projects carried out by student organizations.
Student council completed an Enjoy Book fundraiser and planned visits by council members to elementary schools on the 11th and 13th; the council also is organizing the annual talent show for the 19th. The group reported volunteering at a district distribution event on Nov. 23, Dec. 6 and Dec. 14; the record states about 40 children were served across the three nights. Students also began a Toys for Tots collection that runs through the week following the meeting.
Other student groups reported activity: National Honor Society delivered holiday fundraisers (poinsettias, wreaths and Christmas cactuses) and painted windows for community Light Up Nights; FBLA reported regional competition activity with state qualifiers to be announced at a regional event on the 17th; TRI-M Music Society reported new auditions and now has 14 members; students collected 23 Operation Christmas Child boxes and $100 in shipping donations for boxes to be sent to children in other countries. The record also lists student leadership elections and named new student officers for a club (officer names read into the minutes). These items were reported for information and no board action was required.
