Council approves up to $154,200 for building security upgrades at town hall

Public works staff described four categories of work: replacing some doors with solid wood doors (removing glass for security), installing doors at the top of the second-floor stair landing (similar to the vestibule on the first floor), and upgrading card readers. The contractor is the same vendor that completed previous work on the town’s generators and lobby glass and was selected from an earlier RFP process.
Staff said the work is budgeted in the FY25 budget and the contractor has previously completed projects for the town. After council discussion about camera coverage and blind spots, staff noted recent camera upgrades covered many lobby and second-floor common areas; the current contract does not include additional camera purchases, although staff said they could pursue camera upgrades in separate actions if needed.
