County approves airport consulting agreement contingent on city participation

The Koochiching County Board of Commissioners voted Jan. 28 to approve a consulting agreement to study airport operations and recommend improvements, contingent on the City of International Falls agreeing to participate in half the cost and be added to the contract signature line.
County staff said the city and county formed an airport steering committee about six months ago and that the county solicited requests for proposals for airport consultants. Two proposals were received and reviewed; the steering committee unanimously recommended the firm identified in the packet (contract name given in materials). County Attorney Glaspie reviewed the draft contract and advised adding the city as a signatory at the signature block.
Commissioner McIntyre moved to approve the contract contingent on the city's participation in half the cost; the motion was seconded and carried without objection. Staff said the county budget includes a not-to-exceed amount for the work and that the agreement can proceed once the city also approves.
Ending: County staff will present the finalized contract including the city signature block after International Falls considers participation at its upcoming council meeting.
