The roof grant requires a 25% local match and the HVAC grant a 50% local match. The CTC noted Chambersburg’s participation rate in the center (41.5%) when calculating the district’s estimated share. Bids for the roof project were being solicited at the time of the report.
A board representative said even if the Conklin roof lasts 20 years versus a traditional 50-year roof, the lower cost could allow multiple replacements over the long term at lower overall cost. The board reported the project is expected to produce “significant savings” relative to the original roof estimate.
