The Cochise County Library District Board approved minutes from its Aug. 27, 2024, meeting and authorized about $1,600 in demands and operating budget amendments at its meeting Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2025, in the Hearing Room at 1415 Melody Lane, Building G.
The approvals were routine. The district’s librarian told the board, “the demands that we have this week are pretty minimal. Grand total is about $1,600. The vendors are Baker and Taylor, which is our book wholesaler, OverDrive, which sells digital books and materials, and we have mileage reimbursement for a staff member.” The board voted 3-0 on the motion to approve the demands and budget amendments.
Board members said the item reflected regular ordering patterns for the district. The librarian said most orders are small — for example, about $800 for print books and $400 for audiobooks on this agenda — and that larger expenditures at earlier meetings reflected a software renewal rather than routine purchases. She described a recent mileage reimbursement for a staff member who covered a remote branch while a colleague was out sick and noted the county fleet or assigned county vehicles are used when available.
The librarian listed the district’s branches as Bowie, Bridal, Portal, Sunnazota and SunSites, and said the district visits city libraries less frequently because it does not operate them. Board members asked about the geographic coverage of staff travel; the librarian confirmed staff typically use county vehicles or fleet vehicles but that, in at least one instance on this agenda, a staff member drove directly from home to cover a remote site and was reimbursed for mileage.
Separately, the board approved the minutes of the Aug. 27, 2024, library district board meeting; that motion also passed 3-0. All three supervisors present voted in favor of both motions.
The board noted the next meeting will be held immediately following adjournment of the library district meeting to consider flood control district business. The library district meeting was then adjourned.
