Board approves committee-for-and-against appointment form for replacement levy

The Battle Ground School District Board of Directors voted 5-0 to approve the committee-for-and-against appointment form related to the proposed educational programs and operations replacement levy.
Michelle, a district staff member, told the board that state law requires the district to appoint a form listing committees known to be "for" or "against" a ballot proposition. She said staff contacted the known for/against committees from the February election and that the groups agreed to be listed on the appointment form.
Michelle said the district used information from the February posting on the district website and from county publication and outreach to compile the list. She identified "Battleground citizens for better schools" with Terry Dotson listed as chair as a committee supporting the levy; a person with the last name Rylander had agreed to represent the against committee, Michelle said. The district presented the appointment form to the county for publication and inclusion with the election materials.
The board then moved to approve the appointment form. A roll-call vote recorded Mary Snitley, Debbie Johnson, Ted Champagne Pine, Terry Tate and Jackie Maddox as voting in favor. The motion passed 5-0.
Board members emphasized this vote approves only the appointment form used for county filing and does not constitute endorsement or verification of committee membership beyond what the county publishes.
